The beacon of my lifetime has gone dim as God has called one of his best and brightest home.
Sandra Dickely McIver, born to Fred C. and Ada G. Dickely on March 14, 1936. She passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, August 20, 2022
Sandy was highly intelligent, she was valedictorian of her high school class. She attended Vassar for 2 years and graduated with honors from Northwestern University. After receiving a degree in philosophy, she realized that "the world doesn't pay you to philosophize". So she put her talents to use as an insurance agent. Her mantra soon became "I'm really 25 but, I work in insurance".
She experienced a beautiful 32-year marriage to John R. McIver.
Raised in an upper class family, she had a common touch that drew people to her. As an avid reader, she was constantly searching to quench her thirst for knowledge. Being a great conversationalist, many of her friends sought out her advice. She had a remarkable sense of humor and quick wit.
Even though she was a standout in everything she did, she had no issue having others take the limelight. She was often referred to as Ada's daughter or Heather's mother. As Sandy's daughter, I can tell you - "if and when I grow up, I want to be just like her!"
She was preceded in death by her parents Ada G. and Fred C. Dickely and her beloved husband, John R. McIver.
She is survived by her daughter Heather (Mark) Christensen of Providence, Utah, her cherished twin grandsons, Jamison M. Kenna of Salt Lake City, Ut, and John R. Kenna of Providence, Utah, her brother Fred Dickely of Watsonville, CA, Many wonderful friends and her constant and adoring 4- legged companion, Foxy Lady
