Sara Bytheway Wilcox passed away peacefully at her home in Millville, Cache County, Utah in the evening of May 20, 2024 with family at her side. She was 62.
Sara was born in Murray, Utah on February 6, 1962. She was the sixth child of Quintin Hill Bytheway and Imogene Naomi Pearson Bytheway. She was a long time resident of West Jordan where she and her six siblings were reared and grew to adulthood.
Sara was afflicted with childhood onset diabetes at about the age of twelve. With that specific challenge to her health, she subsequently acquired an interest in medicine and care giving that defined much of her life. She had a particular interest in medicinal plants. She was trained as a Master Herbalist in which she became especially skilled. She was also knowledgeable in Homeopathic medicine as well as other disciplines of alternative medicine. Sara had a tender heart for the aged, or anyone who suffered from poor health or emotional problems. She became certified as a CNA and cared for a number of elderly patients who were home-bound. That experience was valuable when her own parents needed care and wanted to live out their remaining years at home.
Sara held an abiding faith in the Plan of Salvation, and in temple work. She was an ordinance worker at three temples while also being committed to genealogical research. She served a proselyting mission to North Carolina in 1983-84, and a second mission at the FamilySearch Center in Riverton, Utah. She played the piano, and also gave private lessons. Her musical talents were appreciated in many church callings.
Sara was married to Eric Wilcox in 1991, later divorced. She leaves behind six siblings: Jeanene (Gary Reid), Brian, Lloyd (June Quist), Ethan (Ruth Ann Bowen), Gilbert (Susie Bigelow), and Marybeth (David Marchant). Also, many adoring nieces and nephews, her dear aunt Darlene Bytheway, and a large extended family and many friends.
Sara spent a lifetime caring deeply about family and friends. She will be missed.
A viewing will be held at the LDS chapel, 110 South Main Street from 10:00 to noon, Friday May 31, just prior to the funeral service. The funeral will commence at 12:00. Internment at the Millville cemetery.
