Shane Scott Monson

June 13, 1973 — December 21, 2024

Nibley

Shane Scott Monson lived to be 51 years old and passed away on December 21, 2024 in his home in Millville, Utah. His peaceful passing occurred in his sleep naturally caused by hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (heart attack).

Shane was born June 13, 1973 and started his life in West Valley, Utah. Then he moved to live with his mother in Amarillo, Texas where he finished highschool and got married to Lisa Jo Hall. He started a family with three children and moved to Bushland, Texas. A few years later, he made his way to Hyrum, Utah. He spent a short amount of time in Clifton, Idaho then moved back to Hyrum, Utah.

To help support some of his in-law family and search for a new career, he moved with his wife and kids to Lyman, Wyoming. After some life changes, such as a divorce and another job opportunity, he moved and lastly resided in Millville, Utah. Shortly after the move, he married Melissa Dawn Bryant on October 1, 2011.

After he graduated Caprock High School in Amarillo, Texas in 1991, he started his work career doing housing construction with drywall and framing in Texas. When he moved to Utah, he worked at a meat packing company then changed his career where he trained for a CDL and drove semi-trucks for a few different companies. He did some oil rigging in Wyoming and eventually similar fracking work for a different company in North Dakota. For the remaining/majority of his career, he continued truck driving. As a truck driver, he started with over-the-road traveling long haul to many other states then eventually switched to local driving where he could be home every night with his family.

During moments of time when he got the chance to be away from work, he loved spending time with his family and close friends. He enjoyed outdoor activities (such as camping and fishing), helping others with hands-on projects, working on his own renovation house projects, and going on motorcycle rides with groups of friends.

He had such a kind and caring heart with a big sense of humor. He was a dedicated hardworking man who loved to make sure everyone in his family was taken care of. He was the glue to keeping the family together by making plans to meet somewhere simple and spend time with each other. He’d tease and joke with many people and they’d reciprocate his type of personality back at him. He would go out of his way to make sure those who were close to him were well taken care of while trying to take care of his own responsibilities.

He had five children. He started off with the three oldest children, Achrista, Zack, and Chelsy. When Melissa was introduced into his life, he welcomed Nate and Dakota with open arms as his two additional children. He had five granddaughters with another grandchild on the way. From his daughter, Achrista, he had Kyrie and Sillithea. From his son, Zack, he had Journey, Kamryn, and Haisly-Jo. He recently found out that his daughter, Chelsy, would have a baby in the near future. He always teased her about having so many granddaughters and hoped to have a grandson, but we all knew he’d love his grandchildren no matter what.

He was preceded in death by his mother Alvetta JoAnn Martin, father Vern Oscar Monson, and his step-mother Sandy Monson.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings (Clayton, Cory, Dustin, and Jake), and step-siblings (Jennifer, Tionna, and Ryan).

Shane is loved by so many and we will dearly miss him. May he lay at rest away from all the challenges his life had put in his path.
