Sidney Glen Gittins

Sidney Glen Gittins, 76 died on Jan 5, 2015 in Logan Rehab Center. He was born June 8, 1938, the fourth child of ten of Benjamin L. and Bertha Janice Hancey Gittins. Sid grew up in the war years and learned the value of thrift and hard work early. He worked in his youth on a dairy farm for Lee Woodruff, a man he respected greatly. He married ReNae Walters on June 30, 1961 .They were divorced many years later. Soon after his marriage he was called to serve his country. He was stationed at Fort Ord, California. Sid worked for many years in the construction industry, primarily as a large equipment transporter for Jack Parsons and LeGrande Johnson's. Sid was an accomplished mechanic, gardener, and craftsman. He used his talents to help those who needed it. He fixed many cars, built and repaired many unique and useful items, and grew far more food than he could consume. He was well known for sharing the surplus with friends and neighbors. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Hansen (Brad) and grandchildren Sidney Hansen (Natalie) and Stephanie Johnson (Michael) and his siblings Larry (Kay), Terry, Linda Cole (Ron, deceased), Christie Spackman (Phillip), Dan (Debbie), Scott (Michele) and Jeffry (Lynda), and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard, his parents and infant sister Janice Ann. A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date.
