Teresa De Jesus Alvarez Garcia, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 4th of 2024. Born on October 15, 1960, in Tonaya, Jalisco, Mexico, Teresa was the daughter of Agustin Alvarez and Maria de Jesus Naranjo. She was one of seven children, including her twin sister Josefina. She was raised in Guadalajara by her treasured "Mama-Tia" Maria Naranjo, alongside her cousin Eliseo. Teresa deeply admired her Mama-Tia, who remained one of the most influential figures in her life.
Teresa carried her love for her heritage and culture wherever she went as she began to build her family. In Santa Ana, California she had her eldest child, her daughter Christina and after four years of living there she decided to go back to Mexico and live in Guadalajara, Jalisco where she had her second child, Edgar. Teresa lived in Guadalajara for several years and had twin boys, Angel Alberto and Hector Angel. She then made the long journey and relocated to Grace, Idaho where she had her youngest child, Jesus. In 1997 she moved to Cache Valley, Utah where she called home. Teresa worked at Icon, where she formed cherished and long lasting friendships, until early retirement due to her health and her primary focus became her family.
A devout Catholic, Teresa found strength and solace in her faith. Her family and faith is what motivated her to overcome the many hardships she faced in life. Her greatest joy was being a mother, a role she embraced wholeheartedly, and she felt even more blessed when she became a grandmother and a great-grandma. Known for her warmth and hospitality, she was the center of her family, always ready with a welcoming meal and open arms. She found great joy in filling her home, inside and out, with flowers. Their presence brought her true happiness. Teresa loved knitting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and shopping. She also traveled to Mexico as often as possible, ensuring her family stayed connected to their roots and traditions through gatherings, prayer, and celebrations like posadas.
Teresa is survived by her five children and their spouses: Christina & Jaime, Edgar & Mildred, Angel & Reyna, Hector & Yvette, and Jesus & Evelyn; her twelve grandchildren: Gisele, Jasmine, Giovani, Julian, Jayden, Jenesis, Tiffany, Christian, Isabella, Alexis, Adiliene, and Mateo; and her great-grandchild, Aziel. She is also survived by her siblings Asuncion, Alicia, her twin Josefina, Pascual, and Elvira, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who considered her family.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Agustin Alvarez and Maria de Jesus Naranjo, her beloved Mama-Tia, Maria Naranjo Toscano, and her brother, Raul Alvarez.
Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion to her family will be cherished forever. Teresa’s spirit will continue to be felt in the lives of those she touched, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
