Trudy passed away winning the fight of not letting cancer take away her positive attitude. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, a grandson Dalton Dreu Wilson, and all the family that was waiting for her. She will sorely be missed by her husband LaMar, 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and all the family and friends that love her.
Trudy was born February 9, 1948 in Logan Utah to Moselle and Bert Smith. She lived in Nibley on hollow road with an older sister Sheila, and a younger sister Ronda until she was 11 when her father’s business took them to Roy Utah to a new house, new friends, a new baby brother, Tracy and a year later a new baby sister, Tina. She attended Municipal Elementary, Roy Junior High and was the first graduating class from Roy High school in 1966. Trudy moved back to Cache Valley with her daughter Kelly, and son Norman. She lived in Hyrum, Paradise, Nibley and then settling in Millville. She made friends wherever she lived. She worked at EA Millers and Utah State University. Trudy was a dedicated hard worker.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She fulfilled the desire to receive her endowment in February this year. When Trudy was young, she enjoyed working in the kitchen with her mother baking and cooking. During the summer months, Trudy embraced her self-sufficiency by engaging in home canning mustard pickles, tomatoes, beans and beets. She was famous for her fudge, pumpkin cookies, caramel and cherry chocolate cakes. She was the one you could count on to bring the biggest bowl of food to a gathering and making sure everyone had some to take home. Some of her talents were the many things she created with stained glass and ceramics, which she loved gifting to the people she loved and cared for. She was a feisty yet playful and childlike woman. It's been said you can’t take Trudy anywhere that she doesn’t stop and talk to all the kids. Her trips to the children’s museum, zoo, grocery store was the highlight of her day because of the children. She could dance, sing, and roll the child up in a blanket like a burrito with the best of them. All of the grandchildren, nieces and nephews loved spending time with Grandma Trudy.
LaMar and Trudy met on a blind date while working at Utah State University in late ’81. They were then married on August 2nd 1985, it was then she gained 3 bonus children, Traci, Amie and Joe. Trudy and LaMar enjoyed camping, Sunday drives usually listening to Celine Dion, stops at Arby’s and countless games of Yahtzee… with a little cheating done by Trudy. Some of her favorite trips with LaMar were to Glacier National Park, and her bucket list road trip to the Sequoias and the Red Woods.
The family would like to thank friends and neighbors for their continued love, support, meals and help.
Thank you, CNS Hospice nurse Robert, for your tender care.
