Vicente Salas

April 5, 1959 — April 8, 2025

Shelley, ID

Vicente “Chente” Salas was born April 5, 1959 in his beloved small town of Jose Maria Morelos “Chinacates”, Durango, Mexico to Severiano Salas and Josefa Marrufo. A working man since birth, he loved working with livestock out in the open fields of Idaho. His passions were horses, whether he was riding them, tending to them or just admiring them. He was the definition of an old-school Mexican cowboy, which included everything from cowboy boots, Kenny Rogers, lassoing and having an extensive cowboy hat collection. When he wasn't working he was at home singing his favorite Mariachi songs at the top of his lungs regardless of if the neighborhood wanted to listen to him or not. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family, horse races, rodeo, boxing, music as well as pointing and shouting at the t.v while he watched his telenovelas. But what he loved the most was spending time with his granddaughter, be it playing with horses on the floor of the living-room, chasing each other in the backyard, having play arguments and fighting with each other, and being called “Pinchi Cuco”. He was a stubborn man and a fighting man through and through. He didn't let anyone or anything, including his illnesses change the man he was. He fought until his final round on April 8, 2025 surrounded by his loving and caring wife, his 3 children, son in law and his beloved granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his father Seviano Salas, his brother Pedro Salas, and his mother Josefina Salas, respectively.

He is survived by his wife Alma Leticia Meraz, his children: Efrain, Rosalba and Alejanda Salas, his granddaughter Aria Rose Carnahan, his honorary sons: Dakota Nelson, Cody Snooks, and Tyson Carnahan, his honorary grandchildren: Jaedyn and Alexys Carnahan, his siblings: Julia Salas, Gregorio “Goyo” Salas, Jose Felipe de Jesus “Tereso” Salas (Rafa), Francisco Salas (Rosy), Maria Salas, Fidel Salas (Soco), Maria del Refigio “Cuca” Salas, and his beloved family pets.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends but will be remembered fondly as the mexican cowboy with the booming voice.
