Because of her mother’s poor health, JoAnn and her sister Marilyn took on many of the responsibilities of the home which prepared her well for the role of a wonderful housekeeper and mother which she became.
Her father worked at the electric power generating plant in Logan canyon where JoAnn enjoyed the mountains and river environment. Her family moved to Salt Lake City when she was in high school and then back to Logan where she graduated from Logan High School.
JoAnn had a love for music and played the cello in the Salt Lake Youth Orchestra and the orchestra at Utah State University. She attended USU where she met her future husband, Winston Reese on a blind date which went quite well, so much so that she later invited him to take her to the Preference Ball at the University and the rest was history. They Married on April 3,,1952 in the Logan Temple and spent the first ten years of their marriage in the Ogden and Bountiful area. In 1962 the family moved to Iowa City, Iowa where Winston completed graduate studies at the University of Iowa and JoAnn became a
pioneer in developing the children’s primary program in the Iowa City Branch of the LDS church.
She was a faithful and devoted member of the LDS Church and served a full-time mission with her husband in the Bronx area of the New York, New York Mission.
A special church calling that JoAnn loved and faithfully fulfilled was that of being scribe for the stake patriarch for twenty-seven years. She also served for twelve years in the Baptistry at the Logan LDS temple.
After living in Iowa City, Iowa for twenty-six years, Winston retired and the family moved back to Utah and built their retirement home in North Logan.
JoAnn and Winston enjoyed touring with the Mormon Battalion organization and the Antique Car Club. She also enjoyed making porcelain dolls, baking and sewing, but her greatest hobby was that of being a stay at home mother surrounded by a loving family.
JoAnn and Winston celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in April 2017, and because of her great patience and love, 66 years without a single serious argument or disagreement.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, her children Jody (Billie), son-in-law Dan Nelson, Brent (Susan), Bonnie (Dave) Bingham, Chad (Janice), Lorie (Jay) Anderson, Craig (Tina), and Curtis (Shannon) Reese, 43 grandchildren and 61 great children, two siblings, Marilyn Daniels Aldredge, and Cordell (Bud) Daniels.
