Walter-Horst Franz Neugebauer (79) of Smithfield, Utah, passed from this life to the next on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Born September 8, 1939, in Neutitschein, Czechoslovakia, at the onset of World War II, Walter-Horst was the first child of Walter and Edeltraut Neugebauer. When he was only 51/2 years old, he and his mother, suddenly were forced to leave Czechoslovakia. They were reunited in Germany with his father who had been a prisoner of war there. Walter-Horst grew to adulthood in Konstanz,West Germany and became a machinist.
In 1983, Walter-Horst immigrated to the US and made his home in Smithfield, Utah, joining his parents and two brothers who had immigrated earlier. Walter-Horst worked at Herff Jones Yearbook company, maintaining and repairing the equipment there until he retired. Being near his family, Walter-Horst was always involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews who grew up enjoying his visits, his vehicles, and his very yummy treats.
A private person, Walter-Horst pursued his interests and hobbies quietly. He made visits to Germany, sustaining relationships with friends there. He loved the companionship of his German Shepard dog, Silver, and later his Malamute, Silver II. He enjoyed nature, taking photographs,walking his dog, working on his vehicles, riding motorcycles, piloting his motorboat and going 4-wheeling with friends. A helpful brother, devoted son, and loving uncle, he will be missed!
He is survived by his brothers Rolf(Dixee)Neugebauer and Michael Neugebauer, and his nieces and nephews.Children of Rolf : Kirsten(Ryan)Swanson, Derolene(Dave)Morrill, Durango(AmerÍca)Neugebauer, LindiAnn(Cliff)Hight, Coretta(Gary)Loughmiller, Cimaron(Carli)Neugebauer, Lincoln(Wing-Ha)Neugebauer, and Kendra(Eric)Lafferty.
Children of Michael and Gui-Rae: Sonja and Nicole. Walter-Horst was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no visitation prior to the memorial services.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday Dec 21, 2018 at 660 West 200 North in Smithfield. Funeral Services under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary. Condolences may be shared on this website.
