Wayne Christenson

January 15, 1941 — April 20, 2017

Wayne Christenson, 76, passed away on April 20, 2017 of acute kidney failure. He was born on January 15, 1941 in Ogden Utah. He was the son of Karnof and LaPriel Page Christenson. While growing up he attended schools in Ogden, Salt Lake City, Logan and Hyrum Utah. He graduated from South Cache High in 1959. Wayne married Coy Lenhart in the Logan Temple on May 11, 1962. They were blessed with three children: Shelly Christenson, Bret (Jentry), and Chad (Krista). They were later divorced. On July 3, 1982, he married Nancy Bingham Cressall in the Logan Temple. Her children are: Pamela Cressall, Rita Cressall (JB Tracey), and Cameron (Sarah) Cressall. Then to the delight of the family a son, Casey (Julie) was born in July 1983.He retired from government work in 1997 after working at Thiokol, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in Utah, Idaho and Montana, and at Hill Field and Defense Depot in Ogden. He worked for many years in the car business. He was a natural salesman, starting this career at Happy Day Ford in Caldwell Id, and ending at One Stop Auto in Logan Ut. Just prior to his passing he worked at Car Quest in Logan. He supplemented the family income by officiating baseball and basketball games and building custom golf clubs. He enjoyed fishing and the life of sports playing basketball and baseball, but his first love was playing golf.Wayne never met a stranger. He was friendly and out-going. He had a tender heart for those with special needs and a gift of extending love to them or anyone in need of comfort. He was generous with his time, never too busy to help someone whether it be a family member, acquaintance, or stranger. His highest priority was his family and he expressed his love to them often.He loved Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra, and Coca Cola. He enjoyed many genres of music, had a talent for writing poetry, telling stories and singing. He was fun-loving and enjoyed using humor to lift and bring a smile to others. As his health declined he endured to the end with a happy and upbeat outlook.He had faith in God’s Plan and a deep love for Jesus Christ. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in various positions. He especially loved serving with the youth, and was a dedicated home teacher.Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Linda Young, Sheryl Miller, and brother-in-law Skip Dean. He is survived by his wife Nancy, their children and their spouses: his grandchildren (8) and great-grandchildren (9) whom he adored; mother-in-law Ramona K. Bingham; sisters Karen Dean, Kathy (George) Adams and many more loved ones.A viewing will be held Monday April 24th from 6:00-8:00 PM. A second viewing will be Tuesday morning, April 25th, prior to the Funeral services from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Funeral services will then follow at Noon. All services will be held in the Smithfield 4th Ward Chapel, 660 W. 200 N. Smithfield Ut. Services are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary, (435)-787-8514.
